MP reaching across the country to help ( Gary Goodyear helps Edmonton?)

Mar 11th, 2010 | By Debbie Vitez | Section: Community, Politics

This ran in the Cambridge Times under Opinion…….. comments invited below

I want to personally thank the good electors of the Cambridge constituency for being so undemanding of the time and energy of their MP.

It seems Gary Goodyear has been able to offer his obviously considerable talents to service me and my fellow constituents of Edmonton-Strathcona.

This generous offer came via a home-to-home postal delivery throughout my riding just this past Friday. In his brochure, Mr. Goodyear has  promised all Canadians “over $20 billion in personal tax relief over the next five years” while still assuring me that “the Conservative Government is delivering for Canadians during the global economic recession”.

Of course, I already have a Member in the House, but since she sits on the opposition side. I suppose she does not have the considerable clout of a junior Minister of State.

So it occurs to me that, should I have need of a member’s intervention if I suffer any inadvertent bureaucratic mix-up in pension, low-income relief or the home tax credit – all headlined in his mailer – I had best check in with the member for Cambridge. He is certainly the man!

Anyone who has the time to reach half-way across the country while the House is sitting to offer his services to a far-flung and obviously disadvantaged constituency such as mine, is certainly the dude for me. You folks must indeed consider yourselves fortunate.

So again, my thanks to the electors of Cambridge for not burdening your  member with your own issues, thus permitting me the full use of the time he so obviously has on his hands.

  1. l like Gary personally and his staff were very helpful to me on seniors issues l was looking into. They got the answers l needed, quickly. Thanks GG

  2. Tommy,

You’ve missed the point.. Gary Goodyear is in our riding.. our MP ..

He may have helped you and your senior group.. It was his job ..

    That’s why he was elected..

But ask him what he did for the folks living on top of a deadly plume of chemicals.( in his riding)

Ask him what he did about the Health issues in that area..

Ask him what he did about these chemicals leaching into the Grand River..

The answer is NOTHING… he went so far as to lie to the public during the last election and said to me on live TV that he had been in touch with me..

He said He had spoken to me over the phone.( he lied)…We had not spoken..
He did respond by email informing me.. it’s not a Federal issue… and if I could prove it was entering the Grand River then the Feds would be involved.. He’s done nothing for our issue.

Now he is in Edmonton offering to help those people?

( reminder here.. City of Cambridge said.. not our problem it’s a Ministry of Environment problem..

Ministry of Environment sent me to Public Health

Public Health quoted outdated data and stats as to actual exposure levels.

Province did nothing.. Feds did nothing.. And so we sit..

YOU’RE TOO NICE TOMMY VANN.. AND TOO TRUSTING.. I USED TO BE YOU..

  3. What the @*^$% is Gary thinking!!!! HE IS NOT!!!! Perhaps he could worry about the problems in his own backyard first, BUT Gary Goodyear does not live in an area thats infected with underground toxins, As per usual, the people we apparently chose to elect, have looked the other way as usual, and been told to worry about making his leader,Mr, Harper and his goons, look good in the eyes of ALL canadians. Well, Gary, we here at home, in YOUR riding, have seen that you don’t really care about anyone but yourself, and your BIG paycheques. We are sick and tired of your little pamphlets, describing how we are all in need of your great wisdom and prowess, when actually, its just like something from the Wizard of Oz, PLEASE, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTE TRICKERY!!!! And I totally disagree with Mr. Vann, in the previous post, G. Goodyear sux as a chiropractor and still sux in his latest job endeavor. Gary, get off your knees and come up to the level that all other Canadians( especially Cambridge-ites) have been able to see for years, and actually MAKE A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Sounds to me like your complaints should be going to the Member of Provincial Parliament, Gerry Martiniuk. Federal politicians will watch out for federal issues, nothing more. I hope you do find what you are searching for, with the truest regard for your complaint.
