Cambridge, Ontario.  February 9, 2010…The stately Historic City Hall in Cambridge, erected in 1858, has undergone a major restoration through the Conservation Master Plan initiative and will soon be open to the public.

Cambridge Mayor Doug Craig and members of City Council (Councillors Rick Cowsill, Karl Kiefer, Gary Price, Ben Tucci, Linda Whetham and Pam Wolf) have invited members of the heritage community and selected guests to have a sneak peak of the building which includes an enhanced archives area and a complete tech savvy update to Council Chambers.

Media are invited to join us on Thursday, February 11th at 5:30 pm.  The evening begins at City Hall, 50 Dickson Street in the Bowman Room, and progresses to Historic City Hall through the new accessibility link.  The evening wraps up with a reception expected to conclude by 7:00 pm.

  1. The truth of the matter is that I as an elected official of our city I had no input as to who has been invited… We were not asked!!! At least I wasn’t … The Mayor obviously has his inner circle of friends coming and I asked for my Youth advisory members to be invited at the eleventh hour … (they have been) but other than that no input… So the press release is really incorrect… Hopefully the Advocate was invited and will attend…

    If not let me know.

  2. Rick you’re surprised you had no input?
The Media was invited to attend, but I don’t think they consider me “Media”. heehee
( but thank you for thinking of me) I will not be attending.. I can hear the sigh of relief as I type this.. LOL

  3. I would like to question the necessity for doing this in the first place? I also question what will be the cost to the taxpayers for this reception?

When this is ready to be open to the public taxpayers who funded this should ALL BE INVITED, not just a certain invited elitist little group.

  4. Totally agree with all of you. Unreal.
