The Lost Artform

Today I got a letter in the mail ; it wasn’t a bill or one of those endless dating service admail campaigns ;Although !! This was an actual handwritten letter from someone I havent heard from in ages.
I came to thinking in this age of technology-instant messages and cell phone text- which I refer to as Textual Intercourse ; letter writing is a lost art form . LOL or ROFL just doesn’t cut it. I remeber in grade school when we had letter writing classes and would write letters to kids somewhere in Asia and we’d be shown how to properly address the letter and envelope. We would than have to seal the envelope using good old fashioned spit ! That was what i dreaded most . I feared I would get a massive paper cut and my tongue would drop from my mouth into the envelope and some poor child in Asia would open it in horror.
When I opened the letter and read it ; I could feel the emotions of what I was reading . There were no annoying pop up ads or annoying noises ;as would be on the computer.
My focus was entirely on reading the letter and I know I got alot more out of it than had I received it as an email or instant message.
So ; I hunted for a pen and paper -sat down on my futon-away from the distraction of the computer and wrote my response and addressed the envelope .
I dreaded licking the envelope ; fearful yet again that I would cut my tongue off and some poor person in Wingham would open the letterin horror.
Try writing a letter -pen paper envelope stamp. They do still make them .
Peace and Love !
