Also Margaret ... the Cambridge Times even mentioned something regarding the mayor asking for public input to be included:

From the Cambridge Times as follows:

Craig wants to take the issue back to the public after that phase is complete to deal with any outstanding issues.

“That’s a mostly industrial stretch so it will be good first run,” he said. “If we have a meeting after those are installed, it will show we’re listening and willing to work out any problems, if there are any.”

Thanks Margaret! My question to you is ... were you there at the meeting? If not, then you shouldn't speak. I wouldn't say something if there was no proof to back it up. Mayor Craig did make that comment and I heard him. As you may know, not everything that is said at the meeting ends up in the minutes. Like it or not the mayor did have an impact. Regional council may have voted that way but Mayor Craig had persuaded them. Those who were in attendance at the meeting ... or outside listening in ... know that as a fact. Many residents have stated they know how the region operates and 'regional council came through' because of Mayor Craig's tireless efforts in lobbying them in that direction

I read about that on the Region's website (in the minutes) and it was the 'committee' (not Doug) who asked for this concession. That's why I was confused about what you wrote. Thanks, for responding, though.

Also, it wouldn't matter whether Doug would 'support' or not. He is only one vote at the region. What matters is whether regional council supported or not (in a majority)...and it did. I'm not trying to take away from anything Doug may have proposed to regional council. But in the end...it all comes down to the vote. So to be fair; we must give credit where credit is due. Doug can support or not support, all he wants.......but it's the final vote tally that matters.....and regional council came through.

No problem, ever..saying you or anyone else is correct (when I think they are). I hope I never get to a place where I can't recognize others for their efforts, input and/or insight. If I do..please, someone,...just shoot me.

so the compromise is consulting the public after the first phase ... this likely would not have happened unless Mayor Craig spoke up ... so the first three are a trial run and then we can see if we want more

Margaret ... initially they were planning 12, they got it down to 11 ... however the part where Mayor Craig came in is that he told the region he would only support it if they hold public consultations throughout the process ... in other words consult the public after the first phase ... he said if people don't like them they can re-open the issue and not go ahead with the second phase ... the first phase is Pinebush, Sheldon, Bishop ... we just have to make sure they don't award the contract for the whole thing but do it phase by phase so we can stop adding more if we must

Yep, Thomas. You heard 11. That's one less than a dozen. Two less than a Baker's Dozen. And one more than an even 10.................

I know it wasn't meant to be funny, BUT Deb's comment that "11 is over kill" made me laugh (in a sick way). Think about it. OMG what next????????

Thanks for saying l'm correct Margaret. l hope the voters can see through the vision of smoke and mirrors. Man that water hydrant in the park gets people looking at it regularlly. l go down the street often to the park to fly a kite (is that still allowed) walk, or have some quiet. lt's a popular spot to gather at this running fire hydrant.
